Democrats and Republicans in the House of Representatives passed H.R. 26 on a 416 to 5 roll call. The legislation carries a rider titled, Business Risk Mitigation and Price Stabilization Act of 2015.
“Amends the Commodity Exchange Act and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to exempt specified swaps from prudential rules governing margin requirements for swaps not cleared by a registered derivatives clearing organization”
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that the House’s addition to the bill of an extraneous provision tweaking the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform law “makes it harder” to pass the measure in the Senate but expects the bill to pass anyway.
This is really disturbing. The press is picking up on H.R. 37 and how the Democrats blocked it. But it looks like this one has full support.
