Geithner to Leave Treasury Before Debt Limit 2013 Reached

As a twist to the already spinning political world of Washington D.C., Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is expected to leave before the national debt limit is reached.

A spokesman for the Treasury Department explained to the Washington Post “Secretary Geithner has previously stated that he plans to be at Treasury until around the inauguration. We do not plan to make any further announcements about the timing of the Secretary’s departure until after his successor is named.”

As pointed out by Politico, Timothy F. Geithner is the only remaining member of Obama’s original economic team. Under Geithner’s tenure at the treasury, the administration implemented the financial reforms through the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial oversight law.
