The fall Comdex was one of my favorite computer shows. After its collapse then my family shifted to attending the January Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. While the CES event was always full of announcements and product excitement, the real pleasure was being able to gain an overview of the direction the computer industry was taking for the year. But I have not attended the event over the last few years. Microsoft said they wouldn’t attend after 2012 either – to the extent they used to have large showroom floor displays.
The BBC News is reporting this morning that Microsoft is back and renting rooms for the CES 2014 event. This is a good strategy considering all of their new product releases.
CES 2014 begins January 7 and ends on Friday January 10 at 4:00 pm. The actual show is spread out over several locations: Las Vegas Convention Center and World Trade Center (LVCC), Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (LVH), and The Venetian. Approximately 150,000 people are expected to attend the trade show.
