Earlier reports suggested Microsoft had 3-5 million Microsoft Surface units built for this quarter of sales. The number seemed low and it’s no doubt that reports from The Verge state that the pre-order shopping site now says US customers must wait 3 weeks for delivery and the UK site has a note posted that the 32GB without Black Cover is sold out. This is verified and reports from other countries suggest the same is happening in many locations.
All of this makes sense. The Microsoft Surface RT ships with a full version of Office 2013. Where else can you get a tablet pc with Office 2013 for such a low price? You cannot.
The Microsoft Surface Pro will do even better in sales next quarter. Why? It will allow owners to install all of their software. The majority of buyers will flock to those models when they become available.
