Technology headlines are always wonderful. Imagine technology without the hype and you’d just have a tool and that wouldn’t be any fun.
This is actually Microsoft’s challenge. Their product is boring and tech journalists consistently look for controversy, thus we end up with nonsense about a missing start button on Windows 8. Snore.
For those who never used Windows 8, or never gave it time to figure out how to use it, there is no missing Start button. Yes. Yes. The circle is missing but did you try to move your mouse to the bottom left corner? You did? Cool. You know then that the Start button is square! – pops up on hover and clicking on it sends you to a full screen of all of your programs. Gasp. The nerve of those nasty gnarly Microsoft Windows developers (left out evil and greedy – sorry).
OK. Enough sarcasm for you. Let’s answer the question. Is Windows 8.1 safe?
Yes. Microsoft listened and read tech journalist complaints and consumer feedback. The start button is back. There are about 800 other changes. Snore.
So – how do journalists react to the changes? Here is one of the more honest statements. OK. I used hyperbole there to just get your goat. Let me reword my statement: Here is a sample of journalists’ reactions to Windows 8.1:

SkyDrive integration is awesome, the Start button — despite the lack of Start menu — is surprisingly functional, and improved split-screening means Desktop users can now actually use Metro apps without being forced into full-screen mode.
Guess that’s a good way to say that Windows 8.1 is safe. Now go do what is right and download Windows 8.1 Preview.
Don’t forget to enjoy the new features.
[…] Windows 8.1 preview has been available for several months now. Features include the return of the start button as well as numerous other mouse and keyboard improvements. This is why many journalists are stating Windows 8.1 is safe. […]
