Memeorandum has a thread on Bill Gates’ comments about MIT’s $100 laptop project. He suggests that something on par with a UMPC is better. Actually I agree, from a technology standpoint. Of course, the big problem is price. And then there’s the issue of power and connectivity.
Wouldn’t it be cool if BIll Gates, Intel, and others could organize a million plus UMPCs to be made available to schoolchildren as a small step? With that kind of volume, they may be able to force the price down enough to make it feasible.
