One late night Photoshop experiment with Kindle DX

KindleDX1Math1As I’ve blogged in the past, I’d like to see some form of interactivity and ink/handwriting recognition added to eReaders. I’m thinking of something Kindle DX sized, yet with smooth, precise touch as well as smooth and precise inking. Yeah, I’m wanting it all.

Since obviously manufacturing and possibly the technology itself is not yet here, I Photoshopped up a very, very quick sample of one of my workbook pages (a set of math problems that can be answered using a pen or keyboard that includes handwiting recognition and gives feedback on whether the problems are answered correctly or not) overlayed on a photo of the Kindle DX.

The original image, colors, layer placements, and so forth are all low quality, but I just wanted to show a friend what it might look like to cross what are traditional Tablet PC features with an eReader.

When I showed Lora she had a good response: The Kindle DX is one instance where it would definitely be faster to handwrite than to type with the built in keyboard. 🙂 I bet she’s right.

When I get a chance maybe in a week or two I’ll spend more time creating better Photoshop mockups, but for now I just thought I’d share this one.
