Slates and Convertibles

Iggy posts on his blog “frankarr – an aussie microsoft blogger just got an M200 Convertible. I wonder if he is a first time tablet pc buyer. I wonder how many second time buyers of Tablet PC’s go for the convertibles.”

It’s a good question. I’ve used both slates and convertibles extensively. I started with an Acer convertible and then switched over to the slate NEC LitePad. I loved the LitePad. I could carry it anywhere and I used it day-in-and-day-out taking notes. Quite often it sat next to my desktop monitor and I’d jump back and forth between it and the desktop. But over time, I wanted more performance. And now that I have a Toshiba M200 I’ve got a top notch convertible Tablet PC that’s also packed with enough performance to do my development on. However, I would still like to go back to a slate Tablet–especially one that has the performance. Something like the a souped-up Tatung or Motion would be good–or even a HP TC1100 on steroids.
