Who says people aren’t interested in Tablet PCs?!

Slashdot demonstrates again that there’s very strong intererst in Tablet PCs. On Wednesday afternoon Slashdot posted a link to WhatIsNew’s photos of Averatec’s new AMD-based Tablet PC. By the end of the day 23,868 people had visited the site. And that’s even with the site being down for several hours because one of the modules became corrupted–something Layne’s convinced was a coincidence, but nonetheless embarrassing.

Thursday, another 12,588 visitors checked out the photos.

The comments on Slashdot are also very telling. There are many people that still are confused about the differences between Tablets and PDAs. However, it’s great to see so many positive comments about people actually using Tablets in Universities and their companies.

(Private comment to Layne: Hey, it’s time to get the new server up. 🙂

  2. You’re not kidding. The first 24 hours after my review of the Sony U-70 with Tablet OS was published on my site I had over 60,000 views! I have long said there is a huge segment of potential Tablet owners that need a very small Tablet PC. I’ve been told time and again by various MS Tablet people that the future for the Tablet PC is convergence with laptops.

To that I say: WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Users want a Tablet PC they can actually take around with them. Not just around their office but everywhere. The interest in my review tells me I’m right about this.
