HardwareTablet PCLate night demo

Late night demo

Also last evening I toted a couple of my Tablets over to a local software and hardware engineer. He’d seen the Tablet before, but this time I showed him one of the 2nd generation machines as well as several of the latest apps. He was in love.

I wasn’t sure if he would be. You see his primary computers are all from Apple. And the backup servers in his home office run Linux. And he loathes Microsoft.

But he can see the synergies forming in the Tablet world. He can see the value of taking free-from notes in OneNote and sharing them live with his co-workers overseas and across town. He also sees how he can leverage the inking capabilties to more easily think through his ideas–something that is still a bit klunky with most desktop apps.

What also was interesting was that he gravitated to the slate form factor. To him, you have to break away from the keyboard for no other reason than to push yourself to fully exploit the Tablet’s unique capabilities. I agree. It’s hard to do–especially in today’s email-centric—and blogging 🙂 —world.
