Comdex week led to a jump in visitors to this blog. Normally, there are about 1000 to 1500 unique visitors per day. During Comdex there were days over 4000. Hmm. I should have posted more Comdex material while I was at the show. I didn’t realize that many people were checking into here.
What really gave me a chuckle were the top five search strings that brought visitors here last week:
1 Acer C300
2 Apple Tablet PC
3 Gateway M275
4 Incremental Blogger
5 IBM Tablet PC
This is a good sign for the new Acer C300 and Gateway machines which both boast 14.1″ screens. It looks like large screen Tablet PCs with full-sized keyboards are going to be here to stay. That’s good news for developers, CAD designers and Photoshop users.
I’d still prefer the screen to be detachable (as with the HP TC1100) so that the computer can be used in slate or notebook mode, but I bet that’ll come in time.
I’d also like to see even larger Tablet PC screens. I don’t know where the electronics or performance demands fall apart, but I’d like to see C-Size (18″ x 24″) or D-Size (24″ x 36″) Tablet PC screens too. Very likely it would revolutionize fields such as CAD, graphic arts, and photography.
One last comment on the top search strings: it sure looks like more a handful of people are hoping that Apple and IBM are going to get into Tablet PCs. Nope, it didn’t happen this year at Comdex. Who knows, maybe next year.
In regards to your comments C-Size or even D-Size Tablet PC screens, that would truly be amazing. And not only for architects and artists, can you imagine multitasking on a 24 x 36 touchscreen?
This is the largest “touchscreen” I have found:

Here is a description of their archaic touchscreen system:

Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the links. I agree.
