Paul Woods and Algenol expect to turn algae into cheap energy. The process involves growing algae optimized for producing four fuels. The cost for the fuels is approximately $1.27 per gallon.
According to Woods, Algenol will use its Total Gallons of Liquid Fuel (TGOLF) process to produce four fuels: gas, diesel, jet, and ethanol.
Algenol’s first commercial production plant is planned for mid-2015. The company also plans to build and deploy production sites in the United States, India, and Mexico. The company also formed a partnership with Brazil and Israel.
