Chromebooks get Office Document Editor

The Google Operating System blog states Office Document Editor for Chromebooks is now available. This is a shift from viewer to editing.

The most interesting part of the blog post is that “Google will have to change its name to shows that it’s more than a file viewer. It will be interesting to see how Quickoffice for Chrome integrates with Google Drive.”

You will have to switch to the Dev Channel and have the latest Chrome OS version (29.0.1547.2).

  1. Navigate to chrome://flags.
  2. Click on Enable below the “Enable document editing” entry.
  3. You’ll be prompted to “Restart Now” after which you will get access to the feature.
