The fastest way to import student names and IDs from PowerSchools Gradebook into ActivInspire with NO ugly ” surrounding the student names, etc.
Total time << 5 minutes
PART I. (CREATE CSV)
Run the report “Student Roster” within gradebook.
Select Output Type: Export (CSV)
Select Sections: Selected Class or choose all active classes if you want to just use one file, once.
Select Student Name and Student Number.
Save Report (remember where you save it)
PART II. (Prepare CSV)
Open this csv file in Textpad (download from http://textpad.com/)
Run search and replace .. search for ” and replace with a blank line.
Remove the first two lines so that the csv begins with your first student’s name.
Save the file (remember where you save it)
PART III. (Import CSV)
Now launch ActivInspire, open browser, choose student database (Edit, student database).
Click on Import. Choose your csv file created and prepared above.
Map properly (The first line has pull downs for each column. Choose the proper mapping)
Click on import
Highlight all of the kids’ names for a particular period and click on << to get them into the right class period.
PART IV (Repeating for each class, optional)
Repeat Part I, II, and III for each class
