HP Innovations in Education Grants $6.6M to U.S. Secondary Schools

Jim Vanides just announced the list of 2009 HP Innovations in Education grant recipients in the US.

Together, they will receive a total of ~$9M in equipment, cash, and professional services.

Here’s a breakdown of demographics about the secondary school recipients:

# of Institutions: 25 Secondary School Systems from 11 States

Institution Size: From 1,600 to 300,000+ students

Estimated # of students impacted directly: More than 25,283; more than 60% are under-represented

Total HP Social Investment (value at List) More than $6.6M

For good reasons, Jim’s excited. What a terrific impact this program will have on efforts to accelerate learning!

I received a phone call from one grant application team member who caught Jim’s excitement. Their school received Jim’s notice that they will receive one of the grants. They will receive 30 Tablet PCs and 30 minis. WOW!

Don’t you wonder why more teams don’t take the time to apply for this and other programs to fund Tablets for their schools?

Thanks, Jim and all your team for making this grant cycle happen.

And, on behalf of students who will benefit from these tools, thank you grant application team members for caring enough to go out of your way to prepare a competitive proposal.

To Jim and the teams, sleep well!
