On September 4, 2006, I wondered in a post about what a Decisive School in 2010 could look like. In short, students and teachers would use Tablet and other mobile PCs with a dynamic database to accelerate learning promptly.
… Decisive Schools are possible by 2010. The technology exists. … The purpose of Decisive Schools 2010 (DS10) is to accelerate student learning rates continuously by using real time databases to calculate the likelihood of instruction and instructional settings yielding rate increases.
Since then, I posted Q & A notes about decisive schools.
Subsequently, as a New Era School Initiative (NESI), I’ve described more details of a decisive academic program. It relies on a learning-focused decision tree for the database, and ways to address various interests of people who can make a decisive school work.
In Spring, 2009, it still appears possible for such a school to open for the 2009-2010 academic year. It would be a push, but likely possible.
It seems more likely that one or more could open for the 2010-2011 academic year.
I wonder if anyone wants to open a Decisive School or classroom for either the 2009-2010 or 2010-2011 academic year? Surely, someone …
It only takes one teacher or administrator to say, “Yes, I want to accelerate student learning in 2009-2010 academic year in my classroom (or my school). I will do so decisively, so anyone can continuously monitor academic progress. I don’t want anyone to say I didn’t do something possible to accelerate learning.”
Oops, I’ll stop before going into a pitch.
