The Alaska Volcano Observatory offers updated footage of Alaska’s active Mt. Redoubt Colcano. Great footage for K+ students to view and discuss with or without a Tablet PC.
TV Channel KTUU offers images from two webcams focused on Mt. Redoubt.
03-26-09 Mount Redoubt has erupted twice so far Thursday morning, sending ash most recently to 65,000 feet, according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory. An ash fall advisory is in effect for the western Kenai Peninsula, including Kenai, Soldotna, Homer and Cooper Landing.

There’s some other great pictures and blurrycam images straight from the Alaska Volcano Observatory:http://www.avo.alaska.edu/activity/Redoubt.phpWe got a thin layer of ash yesterday night here in Anchorage!
Thanks, Kenrick, for the link! What’s it like to see black snow falling? My brother at Rainey Pass Lodge said it surprised him the first morning.
It was almost unnoticeable here, it was suddenly like a smoggy day in Los Angeles and then on closer inspection little bits of ash were covering the snow. More like a fine powder moving through than black snowflakes!I heard about crazy weather at Rainy Pass with a bunch of Iditarod mushers scratching there, so your brother has gotten some interesting weather this year.
Thanks for the update. Uhg, like LA smog 🙁 Glad you’re OK.
