Singularity University Address Humanities Challenges

Singularity University will launch this summer. An interdisciplinary institution, it aims to assemble, educate and inspire a cadre of leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies and apply, focus and guide these tools to address humanity’s grand challenges.

Based at the NASA Ames campus in Silicon Valley, SU organizers hope to stimulate groundbreaking, disruptive thinking and solutions through bio, nano, info, AI, and other advancing technologies. Noted faculty work through programs that focus on graduate study and executive advancement.

2. Networks and Computing Systems
3. Biotechnology and Bioinformatics
4. Nanotechnology
5. Medicine, Neuroscience and Human Enhancement

It continues a redefinition of the content of science K20 schools must offer in order to assist their students to understand and contribute to the development of advancing technologies to solve human problems.

Robert W. Heiny, Ph.D. is a retired professor, social scientist, and business partner with previous academic appointments as a public school classroom teacher, senior faculty, or senior research member, and administrator. Appointments included at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Peabody College and the Kennedy Center now of Vanderbilt University; and Brandeis University. Dr. Heiny also served as Director of the Montana Center on Disabilities. His peer reviewed contributions to education include publication in The Encyclopedia of Education (1971), and in professional journals and conferences. He served s an expert reviewer of proposals to USOE, and on a team that wrote plans for 12 state-wide and multistate special education and preschools programs. He currently writes user guides for educators and learners as well as columns for TuxReports.com.
