I installed the latest Windows 7 beta on the HP Mini 1033CL tonight. There’s wasn’t a single hitch during the install process which all told took about an hour and a half.
I had already been running the Windows 7 M3 build so rather than do a clean install I swallowed deeply and did an upgrade. Fortunately all went well. Whew.
After the install all the devices that were working before appear to still be working. Unfortunately the built-in microphone still doesn’t work and although I haven’t had a chance to check it I wonder if the LAN connection still doesn’t work. I’ll check that when I get home from CES.
I’ll post more after I have some time to play with it.
Initial impressions are that the UI is cleaner and IE shows more work, though IE has crashed several times for me just in getting to this point. Hmmm. Firefox to the rescue! 🙂
