I don’t get it. I have some files I haven’t finished editing, so I park my Toshiba M700 laptop into hibernate mode. Everything looks to power down properly. No blinking lights at the front of the case, thereby signaling a proper hibernation.
However, in the morning when I get up, the sleep light is on. What? My laptop has been powered up with the lid closed? How did that happen? Well, Vista decided to install updates or at least reboot so it could finish installing some updates. Yep! The system woke up from hibernate, closed all my work, web pages, etc, then rebooted. Ugh. I absolutely hate this. I’m not in control.
I put the computer in hibernate for a reason. I don’t like the power to draw down or risk the system to be running with the lid closed.
There’s no doubt that Vista SP1 has better hibernation and sleep, however, it looks like there’s more to do. Updates should not take over your system like this. No way.
