Ubiquitous Learning Conference 2008

Mary Walle issued a Call for Papers for presentation at the upcoming Ubiquitous Learning Conference, November 17-19, 2008, Illini Center, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA.

The Ubiquitous Learning Conference (ULC) investigates uses of technologies for learning, including devices with sophisticated computing and networking capacities which are now pervasively part of our everyday lives – from laptops to mobile phones, games, digital music players, personal digital assistants and cameras.

This Conference explores possibilities of new forms of learning using these devices not only in the classroom, but in a wider range of places and times than was conventionally the case for education.

Ubiquitous Learning is made possible in part by the availability of the new, digital media.

Key questions (themes) and concerns addressed during the Conference include: What’s new about UL? What’s not-so-new? What are the main challenges of access to these new learning opportunities?

ULC will include numerous paper, workshop and colloquium presentations by practitioners, teachers and researchers.

Planners invite you (that includes us, Tablet PC users, teachers, administrators, students) to respond to the Conference Call-for-Papers.

Presenters may choose to submit written papers for publication in the fully refereed Ubiquitous Learning Journal.

If you are unable to attend the Conference in person, virtual registrations are also available which allow you to submit a paper for refereeing and possible publication in this fully refereed academic Journal.

The final deadline for proposal submission (a title and short abstract) is 5 November 2008.

Robert W. Heiny, Ph.D. is a retired professor, social scientist, and business partner with previous academic appointments as a public school classroom teacher, senior faculty, or senior research member, and administrator. Appointments included at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Peabody College and the Kennedy Center now of Vanderbilt University; and Brandeis University. Dr. Heiny also served as Director of the Montana Center on Disabilities. His peer reviewed contributions to education include publication in The Encyclopedia of Education (1971), and in professional journals and conferences. He served s an expert reviewer of proposals to USOE, and on a team that wrote plans for 12 state-wide and multistate special education and preschools programs. He currently writes user guides for educators and learners as well as columns for TuxReports.com.
