Kurzweil Speaks to Educators about Tech Advances

Futurist and best-selling author Ray Kurzweil spoke with Gregg W. Downey recently in Dallas. This is a three segment report of the interview:

Segment I, Social networking and the democratization of the internet;

Segment II, Real-time translation software and the impotance of teaching students global awareness and

Segment III: Whether wisdom can keep pace with accelerating intelligence and technology’s potential to improve health and extend human lifespans.

Why should educators pay attention to Kurzweil? Because he does what educators also try to do, although he does not hold a classroom teaching position every day.

He’s one of the people creating tools that expands options that individuals (teachers and students) in and out of school may select in order to live our lives as each one of us may choose.

Thanks, Gregg, for your great interview.
