News Corp acquires up social networking site MySpace.com (and it’s parent company) for $580 million.
Here’s an entertaining thread that captures the euphoria of the sale.
MySpace founder Tom Anderson supposedly is posting in the thread:
“I landed a $200k proposal on Friday and today witnessed the selling of my former hobby for more than half a billion dollars…You can do it if you want it badly enough.”
and another snippet posted by “tom”:
“Before I learned php, a friend convinced me that ColdFusion was going to be the way of the future. This was 1999 or 2000. I didn’t start learning php until 2001. So when I started MySpace, I was more comfortable with cf. I started to re-code the whole thing in php but I didn’t really have the time, so we kept it cf.”
Even if it’s not the real Tom, it’s fun to read through.
