Mike Karr of University of Kansas Medical Center comments on jkOnTheRun that he is responsible at this point to evaluate the usefulness of Tablet PCs for medical students. (T)he school plans to require incoming students in 2006 to purchase a specific tablet that we will decide on.
It’s worth noting also that we are one of this year’s HP Tablet grant recipients. We have 21 tablets that we will be evaluating in clinical and lecture settings. We hope that the outcome of this evaluation will be the proof of usefulness of tablets in education and medicine alike. I can’t deny that it would be pretty cool for KUMC to be at the forefront this technology.
Cheers to KUMC. You sure hold up your fine reputation by stepping up toward the front of the line again. Maybe you have a blog to tell us about your experiences, so others may learn more? In any case, let us know of your progress.
