Microsoft Tablet PC School Bus Tour

It’s time to get on the bus, Gus! Take your kids along.

Put a Tablet PC into their hands. Let them show other children and adults how to use a Tablet PC to learn quickly whatever they choose wherever they are. Let masses of people see, touch, and use a Tablet PC for a few minutes. They’ll love it, too! (OK, they’ll like it; I know we can’t love an object.)

It’s time for someone to organize a Tablet PC School Bus tour of the United States. The school bell rings loud and clear. It’s time for a strong Tablet PC in Education Initiative that extends HP’s noble (ok, and self interest) effort.

Let’s face facts. Other countries have taken the lead in using Tablet PCs and related advanced technologies in schools. That means my grandchildren and maybe your children are behind these competitors for jobs, property, and who knows what else.

Competition’s good. But let’s stop handicapping our children so much by keeping them from using the newest technologies in schools in this relentlessly changing world.

Maybe someone at Microsoft will take the lead or grant funding for someone else to organize the effort.

Gather a sample of Tablet PCs by different manufacturers, outfit a bus or motor coach with people, mobile products and information, and then hit the road. Who has an RV and know-how ready to outfit with electronic high tech devices useful in schools and home schooling?

Let’s start with a simple step. Let’s start by using existing conference handouts, posters, banners, etc. in a bus. Someone can paint Microsoft Tablet PC School Bus Tour on the side of the RV.

Start this summer by touring summer camps and parks where kids are, county fairs and teacher conferences. In the fall, crisscross the country stopping at one school district (not college campuses and bookstores) at a time. Get these tools directly into the hands of masses of potential users.

It seems apparent. We’re way beyond the talking and planning stage for more Tablet PC Initiatives in Education. Let’s just get it done!
