Well, I didn’t like the two pop-ups (though my firewall blocked the ad content), nor the fact that everything is teaser unless I cough up the $16.95 annual subscription fee for a peek at real content.I also wanted to know what they had to say about home schooling, something that I’ve encountered surprisingly often here in Washington State, but I can’t tell if it is ever mentioned as one of the parental choices. (It certainly can address the PC-per-student question which they give prominence to.)
I don’t like pop-ups either, but they are one of the costs of using the Internet. Yes, everything in life costs something, whether I like that or not. Somehow, I get information from this site without paying $16.95. I don’t remember what I did…Home schooling keeps growing, and so do support services and databases about home schooling. Let us know what you find.
Almost all of the information on GreatSchools is free, except in a few states parent reviews and the greatschools generated school ratings. I’m sympathetic to the popup issue and when users stop clicking on them we’ll stop serving them. As a non-profit though the ads on our site are largely responsible for why we’re able to stay in business and keep almost all of the content free.
