Rob Bushway posted a draft of corporate blogging rules for Thomas Nelson Publishers.
I agree with Rob that this draft will help the process of formulating a “standard” for corporate blogging. This standard appears fair, although general, as in a traditional “gentlemen’s agreement.” I know, that wording isn’t PC, but I couldn’t think of the equivalent PC term.
I read some corporate employee blogs. But, frankly, I’m always on-guard when reading these, whether authorized by the company or offered as an individual employee’s opinion. At least they’re an interesting form of advertising.
It’s a competitive world, and I expect corporation officers to look out for their corporate interests. That’s their jobs. I wonder how many corporate resources would be available if bloggers blew whistles on private corporate activities they don’t like or agree with.
Rob invites your comments. What say you about corporate blogging, either as a corporate employee or as a reader of corporate employee blogs?
Good post, Rob.
