iPod music downloads reach 100 million

“Apple Computer Inc. reached a milestone early Monday when a Kansas college student downloaded the 100 millionth song sold through Apple’s iTunes Music Store.

Kevin Britten, 20, of Hays, Kan., downloaded the hip-hop single “Somersault” at about 12:45 a.m. Twenty minutes later, the phone rang — it was Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs calling to tell Britten he had won a 17-inch PowerBook laptop, a 40-GB iPod digital music player and 10,000 free iTunes songs.”
