LOL. So much for my Tablet PC webcam. You can barely see the car in the picture. Seems like the webcam should be left to taking close up pictures. Oh, well.
I took this picture with WebcamNotes while at the Barrett-Jackson car auction. I wanted to try out a new feature–embedded links. The blue-underlined text in the handwriting above is a link.
Although I created this post on Friday I haven’t been able to post it until today as a result of a confluence of issues including my own buggy software, ISP problems, visiting family, watching the Mars missions :-), and more. I finally got it up today. It’s a bit dated from a news standpoint, but at least the link works.
How was the car auction? Wild. It’s the first time I’ve been to it. The cars are amazing. But it’s also fascinating to watch the bidders and try to figure out what’s “in” and what’s not.
Most of the cars sold in the $20,000-30,000 range. A few of the muscle cars (GTOs, RS/SSs from late ’60s and early 70s) peaked around $70K and after we left a handful of cars sold for the not-too-small sums of $130K.
Interestingly, most of the popular cars were Chevys. Not many Fords were in demand from what I saw. I got a chuckle out of seeing Novas sell for $30,000 and up though. Who knows, maybe next year there will be Pintos for $20K.
I guess I’ll have to go next year and find out.
