This site is still not operating at peek performance. Worse, some of the caching issues drive me nuts. First, the pages don’t refresh after a new post is created. Second, the top menu is not changed after a login to the site.
Google mod_pagespeed
The mod_pagespeed was installed months ago, Digital Ocean provides setup instructions for Ubuntu. Sadly the stats for different programs are showing wildly different numbers – as low as only 20 visitors and as high as 2000 visitors. The difference is huge – and the truth may be somewhere in the middle.
Today I finally upgraded the server’s mod_pagespeed. The configuration is still set to default, however I noticed that the jetpack stats are now updating properly. We will see what happens to the page count view. This was put on to see what was happening.
I’ll update this post as more information from stats programs fill up.
Update:
The .htaccess was the issue with the stats not working properly. I inserted code which was compressing js and css as well as some other website performance ideas. Sadly, these created a huge issue with traffic. The code was removed yesterday evening. Here is a graph showing the past 14 hours since the removal of the code.
The page counts appear to be changing! Maybe this is a good fix.
.htaccess was modified a few minutes ago and now the page refreshes properly after login.
