According to the Los Angeles Times, Astrid Kirchherr’s photographs of the early Beatles will be on display at the Leica Gallery from Sept. 7 to Oct. 19. The collection will “feature images Kirchherr took during the filming of “A Hard Day’s Night” in 1964 for Stern Magazine, as well as some of the images she took of the musicians during their Hamburg, Germany, period in 1960.”
Astrid Kirchherr was engaged to bass player Stuart Sutcliffe until his death in 1962.
The exhibit includes “a lot of undiscovered work,” said Leica Gallery manager Annie Seaton. “There’s some really intimate, private moments.” Admission to the gallery will be free of charge.
The Leica Gallery is located at 8783 Beverly Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90048. An opening reception for the Kirchherr exhibit will take place on September 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
