New Year’s Eve is tomorrow and the city has tested the drop of the 11,875-pound crystal ball. Ryan Seacrest will host the show.
The first New Year’s Eve Ball in New York City made its maiden descent from the flagpole atop One Times Square on December 31, 1907. The Waterford Crystal and Philips Lighting designed the latest revision of the crystal ball.
The first “time-ball” was installed atop England’s Royal Observatory at Greenwich in 1833.
