My older daughter loves to tease me. She says that I own more vacuums than normal people buy in a lifetime.
It’s true. I can ruin and destroy a vacuum in a few short months – simply by using it daily.
I must run a vacuum daily because my house gets very dirty. Two dogs run in and out of the house all day and all evening. They track in more dirt in a day than most vacuums can handle.
It’s a daily struggle to clean. Worse, the carpet in my home is very light. Eventually the carpet is to be replaced with a linoleum flooring but for now – constant vacuuming is a must for my house.
I prefer bagless upright vacuums. A typical vacuum event is 3 to 4 canisters of dirt.
I’ve tried numerous Dyson and Bissell models. Today, I bought the Hoover WindTunnel 2 Bagless for $99 from Target – with a 5% off red card. It’s expensive relative to a $49 vacuum sitting next to it but well under the $300 plus price for the Dyson and Bissell models I also own.
My first pass was a simple hallway run. As you can see in the photo above, the WindTunnel collected a canister of dirt and dog hair from the small area. This isn’t bad considering the Dyson was just used 24 hours earlier.
Here is a 1 minute video demonstrating the vacuum in the hallway. You can see how bad the carpet is around the bathroom door. This is where one dog thought they should drag something into the house. It’s a bad stain.
