Implication of Goals for Classic Education


Classic Education at EduClassics.com describes a learners’ view (ALV) of learning for three reasons:

1. So educators, education software developers, and others may use these descriptions to arrange lessons in ways that accelerate the rate, depth, and efficiency of learning.

2. To provide a handy reference for parents, boards of education members and funders of school programs to familiarize themselves with the highest quality – experimental empirical behavioral and social science – research results that describe choices and steps learners have shown scientists they use to learn in and out of classrooms.

3. To organize a learners’ view of learning so educators and others have it available instead of relying only on third party views of learning, such as the humanistic, not scientific, teaching-learning process that has dominated classrooms in the United States for the past 50 years.

Robert W. Heiny, Ph.D. is a retired professor, social scientist, and business partner with previous academic appointments as a public school classroom teacher, senior faculty, or senior research member, and administrator. Appointments included at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Peabody College and the Kennedy Center now of Vanderbilt University; and Brandeis University. Dr. Heiny also served as Director of the Montana Center on Disabilities. His peer reviewed contributions to education include publication in The Encyclopedia of Education (1971), and in professional journals and conferences. He served s an expert reviewer of proposals to USOE, and on a team that wrote plans for 12 state-wide and multistate special education and preschools programs. He currently writes user guides for educators and learners as well as columns for TuxReports.com.
