HERE’S A QUICK PREVIEW of a learners’ view (ALV) of life and learning, for those “busy, busy, busy” people planning their day as they commute to work. This preview generalizes ALV into one sentence: A learners’ view (ALV) is of choices on the shortest and fastest path to learning, the oxygen of social life, including of education. A graphic of connecting two dots with a straight line represents the social processes of learning.
From this view, learning occurs as observable social processes. This sentence represents choices as the least number of observable social actions of people while they (we) learn. Choices by learners appear in common in over a century of reports of learning by experimental empirical behavioral and social science research. Without learners making observable choices, learning does not occur.
We use this phrase as an organizing theme for Classic Education: A Learners’ View (ALV) of Choices during Teaching and Learning. Posts give priority to how people learn over what they learn.
The site started as a way to answer the request, Tell me how people learn, What do they do first, second, etc.? That request came through a real world international business. As we developed a description, educators and parents asked for answers to be stated in ways they could use in order to save time.
