Tablet PCs have been around long enough that "then and now" comparisons are possible. As we creep toward the fifth year anniversary (November), I've found myself making these types of comparisons -- Tablets to Tablets, UMPCs, and other ultra-portable PCs -- and all of these compared with my expectations, the way I work and live.

Monte Cassino School (Tulsa, OK) started a 1:1 computer learning pilot program with 72 Tablet PCs and has recently grown to 250 students using HP Tablet PCs. This is part of an initiative that will include all 3rd through 8th grade students.

Microsoft posted a new case study about how Linear Algebra students at Torrey Pines High School used Lenovo x60 Tablet PCs with multitouch and Wolfram Research Mathematica 6.0 to enhance learning. Abby Brown, who is a fabulous inspiration to many, does an awsome job helping her students learn advanced mathematics. I'm so glad that Theo and Joy from Wolfram Research realized the opportunity and brought this to everyone's attention.
