Work will continue later this weekend.

Toshiba and Dell launch new Tablet PCs

Within twenty-four hours of each other, two major OEMs announced new Tablet PCs: Toshiba Portege M700 and Dell Latitude XT. Interestingly, these two Tablet PCs are at opposite ends of the spectrum, with the Toshiba offering high performance and the Latitude XT being ultra-low voltage delivering long battery life. It’s great to see such diversity in the market!

Marc Orchant passed away today

Our friend Marc Orchant passed away today. Since we learned the news several of us have been sharing memories and thoughts for his family.

Marc has been a good friend to many. Earlier in the week his wife, Sue, commented online, "I’ll have to tell him that he’ll need to change his name to George Bailey (It’s a Wonderful Life). It’s a beautiful thing to see," because of the outpouring from all the lives Marc touched. It is a tribute to him. I relied on Marc quite a bit this year. Marc was extremely supportive when my brother Loren was diagnosed with cancer last December and as Loren's treatment progressed. I appreciated his kindness and thoughfulness.

Over the years, I've learned from Marc how to be a better listener and friend, as well as admired his ease of talking with anyone and his passion for education. I feel that I haven't learned enough from him yet, and will miss him tremendously.

My thoughts are with Marc's family.

Services will be Wednesday in Albuquerque, NM.
