Holidays are an opportunity to change up the pace

I’m sitting in front of my television set watching a 1997 reissue of the 1983 movie Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The past few days have been just as relaxing – reading while lounging on a couch in Panera Bread coffee house, sitting in front of a computer and trying to figure out how to get a plugin to save a particular option, and using a new Dyson vacuum.

What?

Yes – I’ve been breaking apart each day with the use of a new cordless vacuum. The attachments have allowed me to get the stairs looking almost like new again. Almost.

Pascal’s dark hair and dirt are pretty worked into the carpet on the first platform. The vacuum picks up most of it but the power runs out, Pascal jumps back onto the platform and spreads out more of his outer self.

The Dyson cordless only operates for 20 minutes on a full charge. This is just enough time to go through the stairs, with several different attachments. It does a great job.

By the time the 20 minutes have passed, I find my mind is relaxed enough to try to look at the PHP code again or to read something about coding.

In fact, this changing of pace has allowed me to write more, solve more problems, read many more books, and my house is getting cleaner. Well, the stairs 😉

The lesson is to change up the day so that the brain can relax and process things.

Try it. You might find out that this time of the year is a great time to try something new. Change it up.
