The July 23 press information released by Apple suggests the company struggled with a drop in revenue of 1.9 billion for third quarter results.
The Company sold 31.2 million iPhones, a record for the June quarter, compared to 26 million in the year-ago quarter. Apple also sold 14.6 million iPads during the quarter, compared to 17 million in the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 3.8 million Macs, compared to 4 million in the year-ago quarter.
More interesting than the decrease in iMac and iPad sales is the flat earnings expectations for the fourth quarter. In their statement, Apple provided a range of 36 to 37 percent gross margin – down from last year.
Apple’s future products are not expected to influence the fourth quarter and it will be interesting to see if Apple iPhone sales continue to prop up the company profits.
