WELCOMEWELCOME to CLASSIC EDUCATION: A LEARNERS’ VIEW (ALV) OF CHOICES DURING TEACHING AND LEARNING.

We hope you find this an accessible, safe, and trustworthy source for facts that describe choices people make while learning. This site is by teachers for teachers and other educators, whether serving as administrators, education software developers, therapists, parent, or in another role intended to assist people change their social life.

Classic Education exists as a response to the question, How do people learn? Tell me the step-by-step observable actions people use to learn. This is one of the most exciting questions in the science of human behavior, the systematic basis for education. Science is a social activity and so is learning. The how question addresses the big, basic question without resorting to speculations, theories, and other generalizations.

We named this site Classic Education to indicate that learners make the same kinds of choices whether learning the classics or floor sweeping. Whether using an electronic communication device, a graphics book, or deciphering a written or oral language.

We grounded this view in the minimum of what is common across more than a century of experimental behavioral and social science research report descriptions of learning.

These descriptions form a technical-scientific language of learning that teachers use by chance or by intent to choose who learns from their lessons. Intentional application of these descriptions in lessons increases the likelihood of all students learning lessons, whether they meet Common Core or other social standards.

The name of this site implies that these are the choices that the most and least accomplished people use to learn. The name also implies how you may join other learners and educators who use these facts to accelerate, increase, and deepen (AID) learning promptly and sometimes dramatically.

Classic Education uses a learners’ view to distinguish how from what people learn. This distinction occurs today as it appears to have occurred among humans eons ago. This view makes learning observable with human senses without inferring unseen brain or other activity irrespective of social, political, and other influences. Observers may use these descriptions to monitor the extent to which lessons match choices learners make as they attempt to show they learned a lesson.

Novelists, poets, and other story tellers, adventurers, sages, and folklorists have used and described these patterns for uncounted generations and societies. These scribes and bards mixed their descriptions of learning, sometimes identifiable only by inference, among other phrases. ALV helps to find them in those mixes.

Writers post pages for readers of professional journals as well as of the Los Angeles Times, the Modesto Bee, or Time.

Whatever shortcomings exist, at least readers have something to modify. I wish I had had a site like this to review and extend my classic education, teaching, and research.
