A Learners’ View (ALV) Is Of Choices On The Shortest And Fastest Path To Learning, The Oxygen Of Social Life.
You’re a Teacher, If …
You’re a teacher, if
You can offer a lesson
When all about you consists of chaos,
And others blame it on you.
You help one student
When others demand equal attention
And you help them too in turn.
You walk around for a long time
And use what you learn to help students
Learn more than they thought possible.
You find ways for your students
To house common sense with facts and figures
That allow them to generalize beyond immediate lessons.
You offer an unbiased point of view consistently and constructively
That helps students build memories to use later
For solving problems unknown when the memory formed.
You use the art of dialogue
That offers illusions of reality
By compressing it into reliable codes that make it real.
You educate the hands, head, and heart
By setting high standards, holding students accountable, and
Leading them to accomplishments that exceed their expectations.
You challenge students to cultivate and value a life of the mind,
Respect for the dignity of labor, and
Desire to live with purpose to make a difference in the world.
You help each student
Give form to life and
To develop a personal purpose for living.
