Summer of Supermoons

It’s time to get outside and look around tonight. Last night was the first viewing of our moon as a supermoon. According to NASA, the scientific term for the phenomenon is “perigee moon.”

The moon will appear larger and brighter, because it’s as close to the earth as it can get. The position of the moon in the sky creates the illusion of the super-size.

Tonight will another opportunity to see the “large moon.” In fact, every full moon this summer will be a supermoon. If you miss out then don’t worry because there will be another one on August 10, followed by another on September 9.
