In a prepublished paper draft, Dr. Layne Heiny describes how he uses strings of 20 second instructional modules in his high school chemistry classroom. Together, we’ve started converting text in A Learners’ View for Teachers in Classic Education so you can read it in 20 seconds modules. We figure that you read 150 words per minute on average. As we have more time, we’ll edit more modules in other parts of CE, so they meet the 20 second criterion. It’s an interesting challenge to do so that goes along with the old gag of public speakers that I think Will Rogers popularized: “I’d of made this speech shorter, if I’d taken more time to prepare it.”
