There have been several news reports recently about spam emails out numbering “good” emails 9 to 1. A greater spam ratio probably applies to this blog’s comment section too. I bet 99% of the comments I get are junk advertisements. And now social news sites such as Digg, del.icio.us, and Reddit are under “attack.”
It’s probably only going to get worse.
To me it suggests that we need even more collective anti-spamming systems to filter out the noise. Individual companies won’t get enough headway if they author their own anti-spam systems for their products. The spammers will only get more sophisticated. Since almost all spam is repeated we need systems across apps and servers that can spot the trends and filter it out.
