A Learners’ View (ALV) of learning captures, isolates, and gives focus to a part of the sensory and social life of people.
This site is about the science of teaching-learning as social processes and its uses to accelerate, increase, and deepen (AID) learning.

A LEARNERS’ VIEW (ALV) of learning refers to the least number of common choices (patterns of social actions) described by experimental behavioral and social scientists in their reports of learning. The word learners’ identifies social processes people use, not anyone’s personal choice or theoretical view. At its core, learning consists of people making one choice that connects two dots in a way the most accomplished members of society solve that problem. In this sense, ALV offers educators ways to instruct lessons that learners will likely learn without dumbing down lessons. Educators and experimental scientists have used these ways with over a million students in uncounted thousands of lessons in and out of schools over more than a century.
ALV refines the common use of the word learning. From a learners’ view, learning consists of making a series of choices that form a string of connected dots. Each connection occurs through a choice that solves one problem at a time in that string. Dots represent vocabulary, gestures, signs, signals, etc. in social life that people choose when trying to connect dots.
Social processes start by making choices from an array of sights, sounds, and other physical sensations. Next learners choose from among social norms, morals, and values in order to solve problems. Learners adopt, then adapt and extend their choices in socially acceptable ways.
